- Weight loss. If you are obese or overweight, the first recommendation would be to lose weight. This is because being overweight puts more pressure on the joints, which doesn’t help reduce pain. Avoid miracle diets and simply turn to a healthy, balanced diet.
- Omega-3. In addition to being great for the heart, omega-3s have anti-inflammatory properties. Because arthritis is characterized by joint inflammation, regular consumption of omega-3-rich foods is recommended. Opt for fatty fish (salmon, trout, sardines), flax or chia seeds or walnuts.
- Fruits and vegetables. According to some studies, putting fruits and vegetables at the forefront of our diet could help reduce the symptoms of the disease because of their high antioxidant content. In addition, it should be mentioned that fruits and vegetables are very good allies to weight loss.
- Dairy products. People with arthritis are more prone to developing osteoporosis because of the medication (corticosteroids) prescribed. For prevention, it is recommended to put 2 to 3 servings of dairy products per day on the menu.
