When the warm weather hits, we all want to spend time outside to load up on vitamin D while soaking in some rays. And there’s nothing like a picnic to escape the daily grind, whether with the kids or alone with your sweetheart. So take out those coolers, Mason jars, and colourful tablecloths—we’ve got some original ideas to put together an amazing picnic!

Drinks

Mason jars are perfect for picnics. You can prepare different types of cold drinks the day before, store them in the fridge, and put them in the cooler just before leaving. Make a yummy homemade lemonade with watermelon. Purée cubed watermelon in a blender, add freshly squeezed lemon juice, a drizzle of honey, and spring water to taste! Simply refreshing!

Sandwiches

For many of us picnics go hand in hand with sandwiches, but not just any old sandwich. We suggest adding tasty and healthy toppings! Try our Beet Falafel Sandwich.

Salads

A refreshing salad is always a picnic fave. Try serving a side salad made with crispy lettuce, succulent red tomatoes and fresh cucumber drizzled with a homemade dressing. Or go with a full meal salad. Here are a few ideas to please the entire family: Colourful Meal Salad with Creamy Sesame Dressing or Fennel and Smoked Salmon Pasta Salad… Simply delicious!!!

And don’t forget dessert!

To end your picnic on a sweet note, whip up a little treat! Pistachio, Avocado & Chocolate Pie. Pssst, this no-bake pie is gluten free!

Safety first!

Forecast calls for a sunny, hot day? That means bacteria are living it up! Heat, protein, and humidity make the perfect recipe for the spread of bacteria. Be careful and keep food cool!
